Believe

Believe, a 360° film directed by Maud Clavier, official poster

(2020)

Faith and peace in a wounded land.

Believe is a 360° documentary shot in Lebanon. Surrounded by immersive images of the country, from its old souks to the heart of Beirut, you listen to Maronite seminarians sharing their vision of Lebanon just before their ordination, after six years of studies.

They live in a beautiful but scarred country, where many religious communities live side by side. Yet rather than giving in to division, they choose a peaceful outlook on life and on their neighbours. As director, I wanted the viewer to stand among them and hear, in their own words, what it means to believe in peace in such a place, at a time when Lebanon was going through very difficult days.

Believe was an Official Selection at FIVARS 2020 in Toronto, the festival that had also been the first to select my docu-fiction Filamu. Both films were later showcased in VR on the VRROOM platform.
